Friday Link Party and Maybe More

What a day so far. I woke up this morning not feeling qualified to be a mom. On top of that I'm feeling very emotional for some reason. I went to MOPS which is always helpful and now both girls are sleeping. I'm hoping that by the time they wake up I will have snapped out of this mom funk and back to my normal awesomeness!

So yesterday I added a button you all can click on to follow me on Pinterest. Today I added a button you can push if you want to pin something from my page! It's over there on the right! Give it a try some time! I plan on doing some fun crafts with Gibbie (and eventually Squish) in the next few months and I'll share everything I do so that you can pin what you like!

Here's a few links for your weekend:

Have you heard of Ipsy? It's a monthly makeup subscription service ans it's a lot of fun! For only $10 a month you get a cute makeup bag and 5 products.

I've never actually watched a full episode of How I Met Your Mother but I am obsessed with Friends.

Someday I will go to Germany. I will definitely have to keep these tips in mind when I finally get there.

This is too cute. I want to go with this dog tomorrow too!

I accidentally wasted an hour playing this game. Ooops!

Friday Link Party!

Oh what a day! After MOPS (where the picture above was taken), Gibbie had a total meltdown. It wasn't the best day but we got to see Aunt E and Aunt M which was awesome. I'm so glad it's Friday night, both girls are in bed, and I'm having a beer and watching Airplane. Can you believe I've never seen this movie?!

Have some links!

I'm back on social media so if you'd like to follow me on Instagram, Pinterest, or Tumblr please do!

Add this to the things I can definitely agree with!

I am so in love with this song and it's not really the kind of music I typically listen to. I can't stop listening to it!

I love looking at vintage wedding photos and wondering where these people are now.

The Hubs bought me an awesome Sriracha t-shirt from Urban Outfitters in Las Vegas a few months ago. I need all of these to match it!

Have a great weekend!

40 Days of Lent

Somewhere 40 days got lost in translation. I'll just admit right now that I obviously don't get how those 40 days work (if you can explain it please do). From Ash Wednesday to Palm Sunday is exactly 40 days. Holy week started yesterday but Lent doesn't actually end until after Easter service which is next Sunday. That would be 47 days. Apparently, some days don't count and therefore you end up with 40 days by next Sunday. I don't like numbers. Numbers make my head hurt.

Last year I gave up fast food. The year before was alcohol. Prior to that was chocolate. Before then I don't remember but the hubs said it was soda. This year I decided to trump all and give up the thing that so many people are addicted to. Social media! I have to say it hasn't been all that bad though. I'd say that the first week and a half was the worst. On day two I told the hubs that I was thinking it was super easy until I realized all I wanted to do was log on Facebook and brag about how easy it is! This was a sure sign of my addiction. At this point I can honestly say that I do enjoy Facebook (and Instagram and Twitter and Tumblr and Ello and Snapchat) I could definitely never go back and be happy. In fact, I don't know if anyone will even see this since I won't be sharing it online! I'm definitely out of the loop when it comes to events and special happenings in people's lives but I think if I made more personal connections offline it wouldn't be so bad.

With that said, I have noticed that I'm much lonelier without social media in my life. I've been a bit of an emotional roller coaster this Lent and I think some of it has to do with not being able to connect to people. I have been going to my bible study and MOPS but I usually don't have time for much socializing beyond that. I'm starting to feel like I need to find something to do for myself without any kids at least every other week. I'm considering Zumba or some other exercise class. It definitely needs to be exercise class because that's another thing I've been slacking on since I haven't been on social media.

Sharing my Weight Watchers weight loss with everyone I'm connected with definitely helps me stay on track. I've been so up and down that I've been embarrassed to go to meetings! I'm going tomorrow but I won't be surprised if I'm above my start weight by about a pound or two.

Finally, I know I'm just picking up like I haven't been MIA for the past several months but there's one big reason I haven't been writing. I have a terrible biological mother and I don't want her finding this blog and seeing pictures of my family. It's the stuff from soap operas. I don't think she'd do anything stupid but I don't want her knowing anything about me or my family. She doesn't deserve to. I'm debating on if I should overcome that fear and just post regularly like I've been dying to do for the past few months or if I should let her control me and just not post anything so she won't see this. There's some deep stuff for your Monday.

If I decide to keep going I'll be posting some pictures later this week. I haven't even introduced the newest member of the family yet!

Thankful Thursday

Every week I try to list a few things I'm thankful for. It really helps me realize what is important and what I need to stop worrying about.

*The ability to volunteer at my church. I love the fact that being a stay at home mom has allowed me to spend time with my church. I love the community, I love the people I've met, I love the kids! Last week's Vacation Bible School was so much fun and now I'm about to gear up for a new MOPS year! I'm also a Sunday school teacher and love having my daughter in my class.

*My daughter's ability to enjoy having her nails painted and still say she's a pirate right afterwards. I have never been really girly and sometimes I get surprised by how girly Gibbie is. She loves nail polish, dresses, princess stuff, "cooking" in her play kitchen, and lip gloss (or lip lip as she calls it). On the other hand all of her friends are boys, she loves playing with cars, her favorite color is blue, and she's very loud and rough houses quite a bit. She still hates getting her hands dirty though. She freaked out at the beach last year when the wet sand stuck to her and when we tried do finger paint I thought she was going to have an anxiety attack.

*Whiskey. Though I'm starting to think I need to take a break I am really enjoying whiskey lately. I go through alcohol phases. I've done beer and wine and vodka. Right now it's whiskey. It goes great with lemonade and diet soda. I do not like it straight. Once when we were still dating The Hubs was making himself a whiskey and Sprite and getting me a glass of water. Only he put the whiskey in the wrong glass. Grossest water ever. I still tease him about the whiskey water and it's been almost eight years. Let's face it, I'm potty training a two year old so I need something to get me through it!

*Writing. I've been happier since I started this blog up less than a week ago. It's my therapy. It's my escape. It's my way of just letting go and having a moment to myself. I love sharing, I love knowing someone is reading my stuff, I love reading blogs so it made sense for me to start writing again. I get so incredibly giddy when someone comments on my blog. I used to write short stories too but I just lost interest in some point and stopped. I hope to eventually get back into that again too.

What are you thankful for today?
