Excitement and Thankfulness

I'm super excited because I've added a Pinterest button to my page! Look over to the right, just above that add, and click on the link to go check out my Pinterst page! I update it regularly and I'm always looking for other pages to follow. If you'd like me to check out your page as well leave a comment with the link and I definitely will!

I'm always thankful for my girls. They keep me up at night, they drive me crazy, they test my patience on an hourly basis but I never knew I could love so deeply until they came into my life.

I'm also extremely thankful for Chuy's Tex Mex! Two days ago I found out we were getting one in town and I'd be lying if I said I didn't cry a little at the news. I first went there about 10 years ago in Austin and I ate Campfire Enchiladas (which isn't a regular menu item but a special at the time). It's my all time favorite restaurant! I go anytime I'm in a  city with one which usually means that my best friend has no choice but to take me there when I visit San Antonio! Now, we're getting one, and I can't believe how lucky we are as a city!!! I know, I'm being very dramatic about food, but I love this place so much!

Finally, I'm thankful for crochet. I don't get to do it as much as I used to and I'm definitely not very good at it but it's such a relaxing thing to do. I'm currently in the middle of a blanket and I'm about to restart a rug made from t-shirt material. I've started and restarted the rug twice already and I'm determined to get it right!

What are you thankful for?

Weigh In and More

Also known as "Too Much Tuesday" because I always end up doing way too much on Tuesdays. Thank God The Hubs takes Gibbie to school, I'm not sure if I could handle one more thing to do today.

So this is how I ended my Weight Watchers week yesterday:

This is actually the first week since I've been back on the program that I haven't used all of my weekly points so I'm pretty proud of that.

I'm thrilled that I lost so much:

I didn't weigh in last week because I was at a direct sales party at a friend's house that day and couldn't find the time to go to a different meeting so this is actually a two week progress.

I went grocery shopping right after my Weight Watchers weigh in then rushed home to put away groceries and feed Squish. I almost had a super awesome photo of her but spit up happens:

After just a few minutes of playing with Squish it was time to pick up Gibbie from school. We only had time to get home and change clothes before heading to Taekwondo. Today she got her white belt:

She was so proud! Even The Hubs got off of work early to come see her. I was so exhausted by the time we got home we just ordered pizza and called it a night.

Pour Squish is teething. No really, she is teething! I didn't believe it could happen so early, she's not even four months old, but there is the tip of a tiny tooth shooting out of her gums. I'm in shock and I feel so bad for her. This explains why she went from sleeping through the night for an entire month to waking up once or twice to eat in the past week.

How was your day?

Weekend of Few Photos

I feel like I take fewer photos since I had Squish. I don't think I have enough arms to be able to hold her, feed her, and document our lives all at the same time! Either way, we had a pretty good weekend overall.

It's always good when we start out with buttermilk pancakes from scratch:

I actually got that recipe from a cowboy cookbook. It's so good! When The Hubs and I first got married I would buy the Bisquick shake and pour (we still do sometimes) but I had no patience for pancakes. They were always under cooked. I contribute my current patience level to having kids.

A friend of mine bought Gibbie a Hello Kitty manicure set and she loves decorating fake nails:

She has yet to asked to put them on. I'm not sure if she realizes she can but it's one of those things that I'll help her with if she asks but I'm not going to be the one to bring it up. All parents do that, right?

Squish is a happy girl:

I had the bright idea of attempting to change to the Up & Up brand formula since they make the variety we've been using. After all the trouble we had finding the right formula for her you'd think I'd be smart enough to not do that. It was a bit of a stupid disaster. Her poor tummy didn't like it at all. In my defense it was A LOT cheaper than the Enfamil A.R. we use. Stupid idea, we're back on the real stuff and she is once again a smiling baby girl.

The Hubs loves to take pictures of me when I'm not paying attention and then send them to me on Snapchat:

I don't mind at all because I end up with some awesome candid photos of me and the girls. Sometimes it also gives me motivation to eat right and work out more.

Speaking of eating right... I discovered that if I feel a binge coming on I should just paint my nails because I'm not going to stick my hand in a bag of chips with wet nail polish. That's how I ended up with these turquoise nails:

The older I get the more drawn to turquoise I am. I'm easing my way into full blown eccentric southwestern old lady.

High point of the weekend was having dinner with The Hubs, Gibbie, Squish, my in-law's and Aunt E while she was in town.

Low point of the weekend was Squish deciding that sleeping through the night is for losers and she wants to be a cool baby. For a little over a month she was sleeping from about 7:30pm to about 7am. Last night she went to sleep at about 8:30pm (after fighting it for 30 minutes), woke up and wanted to eat at 11pm, then woke up again and wanted to eat at 3am, then finally woke up again at about 7:15am. This makes for an exhausted Rue.

Bonus high point for the weekend:

Friday Link Party!

Oh what a day! After MOPS (where the picture above was taken), Gibbie had a total meltdown. It wasn't the best day but we got to see Aunt E and Aunt M which was awesome. I'm so glad it's Friday night, both girls are in bed, and I'm having a beer and watching Airplane. Can you believe I've never seen this movie?!

Have some links!

I'm back on social media so if you'd like to follow me on Instagram, Pinterest, or Tumblr please do!

Add this to the things I can definitely agree with!

I am so in love with this song and it's not really the kind of music I typically listen to. I can't stop listening to it!

I love looking at vintage wedding photos and wondering where these people are now.

The Hubs bought me an awesome Sriracha t-shirt from Urban Outfitters in Las Vegas a few months ago. I need all of these to match it!

Have a great weekend!

Wordy Wednesday

Today I am a broken mama. I'm on my knees praying to God with tears in my eyes hoping that my sweet little girl will come back to me. Right now there is a crazy child taking a nap in my bed. She has a terrible attitude, she cries and whines about absolutely every little thing, and she doesn't listen to anything I say to her. She's disrespectful and nothing I do seems to get through to her.

The Hubs and I are 100% sure it's regression due to the baby but I have no idea how to help her with it. Gibbie was always so happy. Of course there was typical attitude issues here and there but those times are nothing compared to now. I've tried positive reinforcement using her chore chart and rewards system. I've tried using her consequence chart which always worked in the past to improve her behavior but now it doesn't phase her. We've taken things away, we've offered incentives, we've done everything I could possibly think of and find online.

Tell me this will pass. Give me advice and reassure me. Yes, I'm pleading with anonymous readers to hold my hand and tell me everything is going to be OK. Surely we're not the only ones in the world who are going through this.

New Fun

For over a year now we have walked by a taekwondo place on our way to our favorite sushi place. Gibbie would longingly gaze into the window watching the kids and adults jump around. She had talked about dance class once or twice so we decided to give her a choice. Martial arts or dance but not both. Today was her first taekwondo class.

She was one of three new students but she was the only one that was intensely listening to the instructor. She's never listened to me so well!

Our first class was free to see if she would actually like doing it as much as she liked watching it. She definitely did and we ended up with a one year contract and a kick ass uniform:

She's happy and I'm hoping that these classes will help her with her recent attitude problems. Maybe having something that is all hers (not having to share with her sister) will help her feel important again.

Lately she's been extremely emotional. Every time she gets into trouble she breaks down crying. Every time I tell her to speak up because I can't hear her she gets mad and won't repeat herself. I don't know if it has to do with not being the baby anymore or if there's something more but I really need to find away to get her back to normal.

Easter Weekend Look Back

How was your Easter weekend? Ours was half busy and half relaxing.

I started out Saturday morning with going to the salon. My current look of mousy brown hair pulled into a ponytail was getting a bit drab and outdated so I decided it was time for just a tiny change. Here's my before picture:

Saturday afternoon was a time for dying some eggs! I think we usually do it earlier than the night before Easter but life has been busy this year. Check out Gibbie's look of determination:

She was just so into it and had a ton of fun as usual.

Squish was a bit annoyed that she doesn't have the mobility to help out. I think her face says it all:

Sunday morning was wild! I managed to get two kids, a husband, and myself looking good to get to church by 9am! I wanted to be super cheesy and have the girls in matching dresses. I couldn't find exact matches but these dresses were definitely close enough:

After church we had a little time to relax before heading to the family gathering at my brother-in-law's house. Gibbie had a solo Easter egg hunt in their backyard and then I got kisses:

Over all it was a good day. Both girls were completely worn out and passed out before we even got out of my brother-in-law's neighborhood.

Oh and here's my not so subtle change I made to my hair:

I'm also back on social media as of yesterday morning. It's funny how I found it hard to give up at first but now that I'm back I'm already bored with it.

I hope you all had a blessed Easter and have a fantastic week!
